Gingivitis

Gingivitis is a very common type of gum disease affecting over three million people every year in US alone. It causes redness, irritation, and swelling of your gums. In more serious cases, it could eventually lead to tooth loss.

It is a result of bacteria building up on your gums causing them to bleed when you brush your teeth.  After 72 hours, plaque hardens into tartar, which forms along the gum line and makes it hard to clean your teeth and gums completely. Eventually this buildup irritates and inflames your gums, causing gingivitis.

If you think you may have gingivitis, you can take some simple steps to reverse it. Start by booking an appointment with Dr. Gloria Clarke today!
